Yang Di-pertuan Agong To Attend Songket Do
KUALA LUMPUR, June 18 (Bernama) -- Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Nur Zahirah will attend a songket function on July 10 at Shangri-La Hotel here.
Themed "A Lasting Heritage," the function is aimed at giving the songket prestige and as a highly valuable Malaysian heritage.
Honourable guests will include chief executive officers (CEO), celebrities and dignitaries, said organising chairman Datuk Larry Gan.
The function is a charity night for corporations, organisations and individuals in aid of Yayasan Tuanku Nur Zahirah (YTNZ) to protect and develop songket, he said in a statement here Thursday.
Gan said the foundation's pioneer project is aimed at expanding the songket industry via innovative ways of using and wearing the popular handicraft.
