A delectable range of items from ROYAL TERENGGANU SONGKET will be up for sale at the Kraf Kebangsaan Festival at Pusat Dagangan Kraftangan on Jalan Conlay from February 24 to March 8 and at JW Marriott Hotel on Jalan Bukit Bintang from March 13 to March 24.

ROYAL TERENGGANU SONGKET, a brand under the Yayasan Tuanku Nur Zahirah foundation (YTNZ), was founded in 2007 under the royal patronage of Her Majesty the Queen of Malaysia, Tuanku Nur Zahirah, aims at conserving this cultural heritage by building the economic viability for Songket through supporting the fair employment of Songket weavers and expanding the market for Songket by making it more contemporary and innovative in design.

ROYAL TERENGGANU SONGKET designs are modern yet it complies with certain traditional concepts of Songket. Items range from fashion accessories like kaftans and shawls to home furnishings and gift ideas. The exquisite Royal Terengganu Songket shawls are an all-time favourite for cocktails and gala events. Songket evening bags complement the shawls.

Since its inception, YTNZ has created employment for over 60 Songket weavers in Terengganu and Sarawak who are primarily female and from the low-income group which has a direct impact on their income and living standards, through providing a fixed monthly salary, overtime and other employment benefits including skills training.

ROYAL TERENGGANU SONGKET also supports the Single-Mother Weavers Programme by creating many affordable gift products in Songket, such as, toiletry bags, jewellery boxes, eye-masks and even teddy bears.
